Life is a game – it’s official!

Watched a great TED presentation speculating on what the next big thing will be - the answer? "The Game Layer"

For the record:

  • I like the idea that life becomes one big game, in which you earn rewards for doing things that you were going to do anyway, like have a coffee or buy a muffin.
  • I don't like the intro to this presentation, which paints a rather more sinister picture, describing this game layer as;

"a pervasive net of behavior-steering game dynamics that will reshape education and commerce"

I don't want my behavior to be steered - I am not a car!

Right, I'm of to get a coffee - just got to get 6 more and I will get a FREE one!

You can checkout the presenter's (Seth Priebatsch) website here - its called SCVNGR

A Borgberry? A new type of fruit ?

As a technology guy I will probably be shot for saying this, but is a blackberry really worth it ?

I remember a time when if I was out of the office, I wouldn't get any emails.

Hell, I even remember a time that when if I was out of the office I wouldn't even get a phone call! Well, things change and we seem to want to be in constant touch with friends, family, clients. Don't get me wrong, I think this has it's advantages, but my only worry is that the self may start to get totally lost in this inextricably fast move towards complete, continuous global connectivity with each and everyone.

Hello, I am the borgberryborg.

I have turned off data service on my blackberry now - let's see how long I last!

Gmail Priority Inbox

"Priority Inbox is a new view of your inbox that automatically helps you focus on your most important messages. Gmail has always kept spam messages out of your inbox, and now we've improved Gmail's filter to help you see the emails that matter faster without requiring you to set up complex rules. Priority Inbox splits your inbox into three sections:

Important and unread, Starred, and Everything else. Messages are automatically categorized as they arrive in your inbox. Gmail uses a variety of signals to predict which messages are important, including the people you email most and which messages you open and reply to (these are likely more important than the ones you skip over)."
